I tried another quick test with a USB flash drive plugged into the USB-A port on the front of the KVM.
Indeed the kernel messages show the USB flash and USB hub disconnect and reconnect, but no disconnect/reconnect on any HID keyboard & mouse stuff.

I tried a quick test just now, running "sudo dmesg --follow" on my Linux machine while I switch away a Mac, and then back again to Linux.
Keyboard and Mouse don't disconnect, but a USB hub does.

Just want to share my excitement at finally finding a KVM switch that doesn't suck. No more attention-breaking 5-10 seconds of black screen when switching between my Mac and Linux machine.
This isn't sponsored or an ad, only me enjoying what has seemed impossible for so long.

Flux has 2 types, rosin where you can leave the residue, and organic acid (often called "water soluble") where you must wash away with water. Rosin comes in normal and harder to use "no clean" which leaves less residue. Solder with lead is easier than lead free. Kester 44 is one of the best.

Finally got around to replacing my phone's battery just now. The old bulging battery is thicker than the entire reassembled phone!

New Years resolution... At the Teardown conference @aliegg.bsky.social suggested I ought to buy an iFixit battery. It arrived in July, but has sat on my shelf since, 'cause the phone still works. Going to actually install it "sometime soon", or at least before Teardown 2025.

FastLED adds Massive Parallel LED Output on Teensy 4.0 & 4.1 thanks to Kurt Funderburg's ObjectFLED driver. The driver uses non-blocking DMA, so you can can prepare the next frame while the current frame draws. More detail on reddit.

The sockets wearing out was such a frustrating problem that redesigned the PCB with low-profile sockets that the ZIF socket plugs into.

We use the genuine 3M sockets for testing every Teensy sold with pins pre-soldered. Textool sockets last much longer than Aries! Admittedly clamping onto header pins is probably worse than DIP chips.
Other fun fact, 7-seg count of # of unique serial numbers, because correct inventory is hard...
