when you say shared path i am imagining a path big enough to share with the implied etiquette that comes with that. if you are on a narrow path where someone can't overtake you then i can't rlly speak to that

i would add that cyclists are more vulnerable and accident prone than pedestrians.

depends really. at minimum you're letting someone know you're near them so they aren't surprised/panicked at your presence if you're behind them, and at worst you're having to let someone know they're taking up too much of the path for a safe overtake.

ringing a bell before overtaking is polite/safe on shared paths. have been told off for forgetting to ring my bell in good time before even.
