1) At the Creative Writing Studies Conference, I presented a work-in-progress that is a collection of distantly-coded text-deforming tools (in conversation with Kyle Booten's idea for Word Gyms) that facilitate generative chop-and-cook approaches to remixed creative writing on an incredible panel!

In a couple of days, @remediatelitmag.bsky.social is going to open up its Winter-Spring submission queue! Thought I'd give y'all a sneak peek of the turn I wanted to take for Issue•2 (which, like how centuries are numbered, is actually the third issue)
In issue 2, remediate invites work that is in contact with digital life. - social media odes and elegies - work about digital threads, birds, butterflies, mammoths, clocks - writing in internet-speak - found poetry made from the text of bots, spam, scams, and ai slop - collage, cut-up, hyper mediated points-of-view or POVs got an idea? Submission specs are: 1. computer-assisted writing 2. writing about computer assistance or assistants 3. reviews of computer-assisted creative writing projects Genres we invite: 1. nonfiction or fiction up to 4000 words 2. up to 3 poems (under 100 lines each) 3. image-text and experimental work 4. interviews

Got to talk about how I’ve themed my writing classes (composition and nonfiction) —as “Writing about Crisis”. It builds in the “so what,” sharpens reading comp, and invites more skills (interviewing!)
