Cassandra. Runner. Dad. Possibly Spider-Man.
This essay by @laurajedeed.bsky.social is a clarion call defining this dire moment in history. It’s also the most chilling, and apt, foreshadowing of what most certainly will follow here in the US without, like, immediate, purposeful collective action. Grim but fucking necessary read.
The American cities Trump has vowed to invade one by one produce 90% of this country's GDP. We must withhold these funds, and our infrastructure, from the United States Government, until these invasions stop

There is no “novel legal theory” about a third term, as some reporters are parroting. It’s not legal, and the idea of seizing permanent power isn’t a “theory,” it’s just what dictators do.

On the day Trump says he’s “not joking” about a third term, I’m going to remind folks I published a book about this “slow civil war”—and in it I reported on his open talk of a permanent presidency, and the way the media ignored it, going back years. www.nytimes.com/2023/03/21/b...

Alarmed by the country’s political divisions, Jeff Sharlet embarked on an anguished quest to understand the rise of antidemocratic extremism. In “The Undertow,” he documents his findings.

This isn't a call to surrender, we should be doing everything in our power to preserve and uphold the rule of law

We also need to be mentally prepared for a time when the rule of law fails completely, because at this point that's the most likely outcome

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.
Wired is dropping paywalls for FOIA-based reporting. Others should follow
As the administration does its best to hide public records from the public, Wired magazine is stepping up to help stem the secrecy

Just realized people might not know that Heritage Foundation has spent the last 4 years recruiting preparing an army of young zealots to repopulate the bureaus and agencies that DOGE is currently decimating

Anyway, they have, and that will be Step 2 in a couple months
When I went to CPAC 2021 Heritage Foundation was actively recruiting personnel for Project 2025, before the 900-page document was a gleam in anyone's eye

I was going undercover back then, so I did one of their screener interviews. They suggested a bunch of ways I could prepare for a beltway career
