A company that's been locked out of major markets like the US and Canada has ridden its habit of "making good cars" to the pinnacle of the EV business, while Tesla, with full access and subsides everywhere, is declining due to its "an asshole company that makes bad cars for assholes" strategy.
Tesla Loses Its EV Crown to BYD as Sales Keep Dropping
Full-year electric vehicle sales figures have dropped for 2025, revealing China’s BYD is now officially global top dog.

1. Look, there are basically just two ways to run the global oil market: petro-imperialism and petro-consumerism. Historically USA has embraced both, varying over time. The attack on #Venezuela is a return to naked petro-imperialism. Thread.

If this year was about getting off US tech, 2026 is the year to reassess the digital revolution — what works, what doesn’t; what to keep, and what to reject.

I’ve only just started to consider what needs to change about how I use digital technology, but I’m excited to learn more next year.
We need to reassess our relationship to digital tech
Getting off US tech led me to a wider questioning of digital convenience
