Labour's messaging has never been more toxic. Exploiting a tragic terrorist incident to demonise Palestine solidarity and peaceful protest as "unBritish" signals a further descent into full-blown fascist discourse. We reject your version of Britishness, Shabana

Mass forced displacement, happening now

A million civilians are fleeing for their lives from the violent devastating Israeli invasion of Gaza.

Not a peep from our leaders, not even ‘urgings from afar’.

After the UN determines this a genicide, our leaders shrug and say nothing 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔🤬🇮🇱

Ever wondered what you'd have done in 1930s Germany? Or what you'd do faced with the rise of Fascism in your lifetime? This is it. Whatever you're doing now (or not) is what you'd do

My chapter, on the gas conflict in Bolivia's Tariquía Reserve, considers resource frontiers as key sites of juristocratic reckoning, where discourses of rights are invoked and undermined, and the state’s monopoly on legal authority is called into question www.cambridge.org/core/books/r...

I'm delighted to share this new open access book: Reckoning with Law in Excess: Mobilization, Confrontation, Refusal (Mark Goodale & Olaf Zenker eds.). It was a real pleasure to be part of this project, which shaped my thinking on law and rights. Please share widely www.cambridge.org/core/books/r...

Today I was threatened with arrest by Northumbria Police for holding a placard on public land outside the Israeli-owned Rafael weapons factory (aka Armstrong Works, Pearson Engineering, Responsive Engineering) in Newcastle, in violation of my right to freedom of speech and public assembly

I always forget LASA only allows you to give one paper per conference. Probably a good thing, including for our own sanity

RELEASED

We can now confirm that every arrestee from the Lift The Ban sign-holding action has been released. None have been charged.

Hundreds of the arrestees were taken to police cells. Hundreds were processed in pop-up gazebos after queuing for hours.

Strong turnout for the anti-fascist counter-protest in Newcastle today. Covered here www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-e... Seems this may be a weekly thing for a while

NEW: Parliament Square, London right now.

Thousands in a silent, peaceful protest against both the genocide in Gaza and the UK Government prescribing protest group Palestine Action as a terrorist group.

Police now making arrests.

(📸 Saul Staniforth)
Thousands seen sitting with placards that all read “I oppose genocide. I support Palestine action.” Big Ben is seen in the background

A #POLLEN26 Update:

We have 227 panels submitted.

227!! That is an incredible response. We will not have space for them all. But we will try our best. Now the 17 members of the scientific committee will set about selecting and sorting.

A huge thanks to all who sent proposals in.
