The UN Charter was drafted in 1945 by people who had learned the lessons that the aggression, isolationism and tariff barriers of the 20’s and 30’s had led the world into a conflagration. Article One makes it clear: threats of annexation are illegal. So are unilateral tariffs.

Today Trump asserted that the USA needs nothing from Canada--not gas, oil, wood, steel, aluminum, not anything at all. If so, why does he keep proposing that Canada become the 51st state?
