Here’s what I’m fighting for:
1. Our service members and their families
2. Lower health care costs for MILLIONS across this country
3. Health insurance for over 660,000 Californians that could lose it if Congress doesn’t act
4. Seniors and working families who face skyrocketing costs

I mean, I hate the gulf states too because slavery. But I’ll take it. No kings in America means no Qatari monarchs here too!

…what part of that? I’m going to assume you phrased that wrong…

Look, it’s not me you have to argue against. It’s Douglass.

Anyhow, I ain’t a rightist. I don’t think that *checks notes* looking at history is rightist. But it’s clear you’re the kind of leftist whose criticism of McCarthy is that he wasn’t on ur side. I ain‘t interested in further talking to you

You speak of the Founders as if they were all the same. The Constitution was a compromise and I consider it a victory for Abolitionism that it never once used the word “slave” or “slavery”. That the Confeds seceded because it failed to argue that.

Also Douglass is right wing propaganda? Sure buddy…

“Workers of the world, unite…so we can establish a government with no checks and balances or democratic accountability…so that we can be just as racist and bigoted…but nobody can stop us…”

I think you’re misunderstanding my point. The 3/5 Compromise functionality accommodated slavery. What it wasn’t was an explicit endorsement of slavery. In the Antebellum years, there was a national debate over this. Frederick Douglass made it clear what he thought…

Is that part of the reason why antisemitism was so prevalent in Europe leading up to the Holocaust?

When we beat back the inevitable Chinese invasion of Taiwan, I’d say that would be a fitting triumph…

The Founders were moral failures. Their ideas are enlightened and revolutionary.

It is significant that the Constitution, while it accommodated slavery, didn’t outright endorse it. The Confederates ultimately seceded because they couldn’t find that endorsement after decades of arguing it was there.

It cannot be understated how radical the American Revolution was. Here were a set of diverse colonies who, when asked to justify their revolt, argued that government exists for the liberty of the people. For equality, freedom, and individualism. Our history to this day is a struggle to realize that.
