A woman named Katie runs after a bus driving past a bus stop. She is holding a work apron in her right hand, and is smacking the side of the bus with the palm of her other hand. She yells: "Wait, you stupid bus! Wait!!" Scene cuts to a traffic light as it turns red. Scene cuts back to the bus now idling with an audible "RRRRR". Out of view, Katie tries to catch her breath. The bus opens its doors with a loud "KSHHH". Katie walks into view towards the open doors and says in-between breaths with a proud expression: "Ha! Couldn't ditch me *that* easily, huh?"

I had an unhinged idea for a bonus fight in Sonic x Shadow Generations

So now that it seems the Xbox brand might be failing for good, when do we finally acknowledge that "better graphics every 5-10 years until the end of time" is unsustainable?

Even with handhelds, you're still just kicking the can down a very short road.

Honestly though, the loss of social media wouldn't even be the worst thing in the world if we didn't also lose free/inexpensive third places over the past decade or so.

Nowhere to go online, but also very few places to go offline. So do you just rot away at home and work, or...?

I just want my comics out there regardless of where I post them, or if I even remain active. And I know my mutuals way too long by now to go MIA.

Best thing for me to do is ride things out and keep Mastodon ready if the rest of social media really does go south. (And maybe finally build a website)

To the surprise of no one, Bluesky is once again following the inevitable path for modern social media, and in just about a year after I joined.

I'm not planning on leaving like I did with Twitter as I don't want to lose all contact or lose all my work again. There's currently no real reason to.

Also I can't believe searching for the proper spelling of this coaster is how I found out it was just demolished this year. Damn.
pepverbsnouns.bsky.social
Have you ever ridden Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure where there's a near 90-degree incline to the top only for the coaster to turn and just hang there until you drop straight back down to Earth at breakneck speed?

We're all on the coaster and it's facing God right now.

"The hundreds of billions of dollars companies are investing in AI now account for an astonishing 40 per cent share of US GDP growth this year... In a way, then, America has become one big bet on AI."
America is now one big bet on AI
It’s seen as the magic fix for every threat to the US economy

I forget where I read it, but apparently Nintendo has enough patents registered to sue a good half of the gaming industry. And yet the most high-profile example of them actually weaponizing this in recent memory is against Palworld.

My condolences to everyone who thought a company would be willing to punch up/sideways to protect their IP instead of just punching down.

Good characterization and storytelling is possible with only 4-8 panels at a time and limited space for lettering, but you gotta really try to make it work.

What you get from it, though, is a highly accessible and redistributable format that anyone can enjoy at their own pace.
pepverbsnouns.bsky.social
Simple, but substantial newspaper-style comics need to come back in a big way and the vertical webcomic format is woefully underutilized for this, despite the potential.

I say this with absolutely no bias, I swear.

Generally the rule of tech is this:

Whatever is easiest is what they sell you.

Not what's easiest for you. What's easiest for them.

The only reason we still have an open PC architecture is because it's easier and cheaper than building a closed one.
pepverbsnouns.bsky.social
That last point is so important. The PC being an open ecosystem was just IBM cobbling the first PCs out of third-party parts, and other companies copying them.

If the PC were invented in the last decade, the industry would have never made this mistake. They learned their lesson with mobile devices.

Not religious or spiritual, but Katie neither believes nor denies the potential existence of a God. She's just kinda indifferent.

Though she does sometimes wonder why things tend to happen in her life with weirdly coincidental timing, both good and bad.

Basically. Even better is for some old games, they even include a dump of the original discs.
