Today I visited the exhibition about the architect Birger Federley in Tampere. (My grandmothers father.) He was part of the group of young architects that brought art nouveau to Finland. The buildings he designed from the late 1890s to the 1920s are an important part of the unique Tampere today.

On Friday I was in Åbo / Turku and presented our assessment of the research quality the four Strategic Research Profiles of Åbo Akademi University. The presentation was followed by a very good discussion on research excellence, how to recognize and support it at ÅAU.
