Whatever we're doing in the Arctic, it's pretty much invisible so far.
perreaux.bsky.social
When you toggle to Canadian-only photos, you get a lot of politicians visiting the North, announcing things about the North, and Arctic patrol vessels cruising around Halifax and the shores of Southern B.C. Then you are treated to the exploits of the Amundsen circa 2023.
perreaux.bsky.social
A propos of nothing: When you search "Arctic" in the photos through the world's wire services available via the Canadian Press, the results are filled with Russian and Danish military manoeuvres, Chinese icebreakers and "research" vessels, and not much at all from Canada.

Montréal really reached new levels of you-can’t-get-there-from-here this summer. I bike downtown twice a week and haven’t been able to use the same route two weeks in a row.

The Parkland (🍁) sale to Sunoco (🗽) offers little benefit to Canada while risking jobs, innovation and sovereignty.

Ottawa should say no.

Interesting. It wasn't her, but thanks!

You basically have to be a billionaire to pull it off permanently -- or have a billionaire pick up the tab for you. And so the oligarchs collect the chits as they enable the lifestyle and promise it for those coming down the pipeline.

(Apologies to the owner of the theory. My memory fails.)
perreaux.bsky.social
Essentially the theory goes that when you're a corporate boss, politician or basically anyone who gets used to flying private at the peak of your powers, you'll do anything afterward to keep living that life. +
perreaux.bsky.social
I once heard a podcast episode where the guest theorized that the addiction to flying private eventually corrupts most prominent Americans. The rarity of this kind of sight reinforces the thesis.

ÉLECTIONS MUNICIPALES ALBERTAINS :
Le 20 octobre s’approche rapidement… si vous n’êtes pas certain des bases à connaître pour le jour du vote, voici un résumé.

This is not exclusive to the New York Times. I get most of my U.S. politics by podcast and almost all of them, whether they lean left or right, act like they're covering municipal zoning changes with every outrage.

They don't call it traffic flow for nothing. It will always find the gap.
