i wonder if the sheer size of the US — and the reality of its fractured, polluted media ecosystem — means that some of the most heavy-handed aspects of authoritarian politics might not be necessary. Like, who cares what journalists have to say? No one listens to them anyway.

The worst thing capitalism ever did to creative people is convincing us that we don't deserve a living wage. And worse, that accepting less was our idea, actually - that insisting on fair compensation is laughable, and cringey.

Guys. It's not.

At some point, "We have to keep Trump on the ballot or there will be violence" becomes, "We have to let Trump be president, or there will be violence," and that is, in fact, the point of the violence.
