161k UK citizens want the government to introduce a compensation scheme and signed the Waspi petition. Hardly 74% in a poll where the questions and methodology were never published.

No commitment was made, quite the reverse

Nobody, let alone someone who was both a party member and Waspi supporter, could possibly have been misled. Reeves spelt it out and Waspi posted repeatedly. Party policy and government spending is not made by individual MPs and candidates holding placards at the request of Waspi at conference.

Waspi themselves made it perfectly clear before the election that Labour were not going to pay compensation.

It's unlikely the government will be "forced" to do anything. This is the motion that will be debated.

What are the APPG thinking of with such a weak motion as this?

Statement by Reeves in June 2024. Widely publicised. Waspi compensation not included in manifesto. "None of the pre-electioneering indicated that these would happen.."

HMG believe spending £10.5bn to compensate all 1950s women regardless of financial circumstances for a case of minor maladministration when 9 out of 10 women affected knew the pension age was increasing is not a good use of public money. By all means tax wealth but not for this.

Individual Labour MPs may have supported Waspi before the election, but the then Shadow Chancellor made the party's position quite clear; that it was not in the manifesto and no money was being set aside for compensation.

Labour's position was made perfectly clear before the election. There was nothing in the manifesto, something that was highlighted by Waspi.
