They should be told when they are booked for the show that they will need to be able to address this extraordinary situation, and if they can't/won't discuss it, or claim to not know about it, the interview ends.

I pulled the oven out of the wall, and examined the logic board, and the fault was evident. Although I'm a total hack at soldering, I managed to re-bond the joint, and Thanksgiving was saved.

Happened to us one TG (double electric oven Frigidaire, maybe 5 years old at the time). A search revealed that many units had a cold solder joint on the logic board. Failure mode: when it got hot, joint separated and failed to make connection. As it cooled, connection would be re-established.
