Totally correct. Almost every deal in every sport involving public funding for stadium/arena construction has been terrible for taxpayers. But in most cases the taxpayers do at least have ownership of the big, expensive building that never ends up paying for itself.

Sorry, just realized you’re in Texas. I’m not immediately familiar with financial/ownership of any of TX facilities, but most stadiums in the country are publicly owned.

Lumen Field, T-Mobile Park and Climate Pledge Arena are all owned by the city of Seattle. The teams just lease them.
