It’s disappointing Tillamook Creamy doesn’t do an elaborate display around Christmas to celebrate the birth of baby cheeses.

Can we all agree it would be excellent if they had gorgeous life-size nativity scene except instead of a baby Jesus, the bassinet had a bunch of Tillamook cheeses?

Rick Steves is an American treasure. Just all-around, one of the absolute best of us.
It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

#Zags BlueSky:
I moved here in late 2004. My first Seattle game was sitting under the hoop for the Morrison shot.

Since then I’ve gone to every brutal loss (Nevada, Tenn, Illinois, AJ Price, UConn, Kentucky…) and nothing else.

I stayed home tonight. And I’m very happy about that for all of us.

Angle Lake is infuriating.

SeaTac exists because of the airport. The city is named for the nickname people used for the airport. There’s a capital letter in the middle because it’s just a shorthand for 2 other cities.

Why the fuck did they think anyone would know it as Angle Lake?!

This seems dubious, but who am I to question the experience and expertise of acting Archivist of the United States, Marco Rubio?
Marco Rubio ordered diplomats to return to using Times New Roman font in official communications, calling his predecessor's decision to adopt Calibri a “wasteful” diversity move
Rubio Stages Font Coup: Times New Roman Ousts Calibri
The secretary of state called it a "wasteful" diversity move, according to an internal department cable seen by Reuters.

I’m from home and wife and kids aren’t here, so I was a little concerned to hear the sound of a toilet flush coming from the bathroom by our back door.

Upon investigation I learned that our tuxedo cat has figured out how to flush the toilet.

This is the most unhinged editorial board piece I have ever read. And as a Seattle Times subscriber, that’s really saying something.

Americans having an overall preference for space and cars is not exclusive with the fact there is way more demand for urban housing than supply.

Building more dense, walkable housing to meet that need will also reduce demand pressure on the suburbs.
Right, this is true, but the OVERWHELMING evidence of the past 100 years of American life is that vastly more people want space and a car than a smaller unit and a car-free lifestyle. This is mostly why the suburban share of US population has grown relentlessly for the entire 20th and 21st century
Some people put a premium on space in my experience, others put a premium on not having to have a car and not being isolated out in the suburbs

“[L]istening is a discipline, and when we listen, we learn.”

An outstanding and extremely worthwhile read.
A way to find common ground: Dump the labels and listen | Op-Ed
The writer draws on her experiences leading apolitical focus groups to suggest ways we might be more moderate in conversing with others, even when we disagree.

A lot has been said about Dick Cheney, but he died doing what he loved: Monitoring the buildup of U.S. military forces in preparation to launch a unilateral invasion of a smaller, weaker country with significant oil reserves on flimsy, invented pretense.
