I mean, it’s one banana Michael, what could it cost?

There are a lot of things I want to say about this but I’ll just settle for expressing disgust at what an embarrassing horror show of a country this is.

Over the weekend ICE abducted an NIH contractor when he showed up to a courthouse for his green card hearing. He is documented. His wife is a citizen.

He is also member of the skeleton crew of animal care staff that works through a shutdown, to ensure the health and wellbeing of research animals.

Yankees fans eyes rolling completely back and turning black, heads tilting backwards at an impossible angle, and their jaws opening and opening horribly like a shark's as they all emit the PC Richard Whistle Sound as one.

I know he's a nepo baby, but the language we use to talk about these young athletes is absurd and damaging.

"a man synonymous with failure" he is a college sophomore, can we relax?

From @theathletic.com: Many people are having a bad year in college football, but Arch Manning is having one of the worst. The quarterback has gone from preseason Heisman Trophy favorite and projected No. 1 NFL Draft pick to a man synonymous with failure. nyti.ms/47dNoy3

The first thing I did when I got my new work computer all set up was change my default font for emails.

i'm still mad that we waited all these years for MS word to give us a new font and they gave us aptos.

Book 18 of 2025: @ldandrea.bsky.social’s proselytizing turned me on to Evelyn Hardcastle, so now I’m tackling Turton’s highly anticipated follow-up.

I admit to being a certified Chavez Hater and it may not all be 100% rational. But I am a huge Francisco Alvarez fan and a lot of my Chavez haterade was consumed because I've scapegoated him for Alvy's setbacks lol.

Yeah like Juan Soto, Francisco Lindor, and Pete Alonso are gonna do what they're gonna do, but all of the young hitters either didn't progress or took steps backwards this year to varying degrees and that's not a good reflection of the hitting instruction, imo.
petitephd.bsky.social
The pitching stuff was a mixed bag, imo. Canning and the transition of Clay Holmes to a SP were huge victories. Injuries can't be helped, but Manaea and Senga both struggling to come back wasn't good and Peterson took a step back this year.

The internet is abuzz because Taylor Swift released a new album. I'm abuzz because today is the day the Mets finally fired Eric Chavez.

Antoan Richardson basically said "bet you can't be a 40/40 guy" to Juan Soto and he did it and then Richardson was the only one to keep his job lol.

Between some folks rounding up a little bit and employer matching (remember that is a thing for some employers, so you can check if yours is one of them!), we've reached over $12,000 raised to benefit The National Domestic Violence this year. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! 💖

Those games in the last week or so of the season were basically like postseason games since they were must-win situations.

Mets played all their games against the Dodgers in the first half when they were still good.

EXCLUSIVE: In her first interview all year, Susan Monarez, CDC director for only 29 days, tells me why Trump/RFK fired her and where this is all headed.

The CDC director is an “inherently political position, but that doesn’t mean that it has to be politically compromised”, she tells @nature.com.
Exclusive: ex-CDC director talks about why she was fired
“I would never do that, as a scientist,” Susan Monarez says of being asked to approve changes to vaccine recommendations without knowing the details.

I just feel like given the state of the Mets’ pitching, the Dodgers’ offense just would have pounded them.
petitephd.bsky.social
It makes me feel better that the Reds were basically not competitive against the Dodgers because I know the same thing would have just happened to the Mets if they made it instead.

To our federal employees,

During these uncertain times, we know many of you feel the weight of furloughs and others are coping with painful layoffs. The halls of government may fall silent, but your service and sacrifice echo louder than ever in this region.

Your hard work has kept our nation moving. Through long nights, early mornings, and every unseen moment in between, you've built more than institutions, you've built a community that cares, protects, and believes.

The DMV never gives up on its own. Strength and resilience are in our DNA and kindness lives in us.

That's why we are opening our doors to you this Sunday, October 5, at Audi Field for our Fan Appreciation match at 1 p.m. There's no better way to celebrate the members of our community whose heart, passion, and tireless work fuel our region and country.

The first 200 federal employees can claim a voucher for a free ticket on a first-come, first-served basis. After that, a limited number of $10 tickets for federal employees will be available so you can bring your friends & family, share in the roar of the crowd, and remember that this community stands with you.

As your team, we stand with you.
As your neighbors, we walk beside you.

Different roots. Same home. One Spirit!

With gratitude,
The Washington Spirit
