Years in the corporate world taught me that apparently the main attribute companies look at in determining who will receive an executive promotion is whether or not the candidate is 6'2" or above.
I consider it a privilege to vividly remember the world before the internet. The context is helpful, though deeply saddening. We got along fine before the web, but when it landed, for just a minute there it seemed like it would lead to a better-educated, more equitable, and connected world.
