yes but only under a doctor's supervision

direct action or no my point is that there's no SEAL mission that isn't a more natural fit for the USMC with the added benefit of cross pollinating the conventional USMC units back and forth from the SOF units during career progressions

Most of the time everyone is savvy enough to understand what it means, but it's also vague and deniable enough to not violate HIPAA

You just say you have a professional conflict of interest and can have an off the record conversation with the judge to reveal its nature (ex parte? idk, there's some latin phrase for the conversation happening off the record in private)

it really makes no sense to have a SOF direct action light infantry force in a department that has no such conventional thing, but the Navy would never give it up at this point. sure, SWCC kinda makes sense (again, why would it not reside more naturally in the USMC tho?)

having SEALs move back and forth between USN and USMC units would also lead to recognition that the SEAL role could be better accomplished by just moving it entirely into the USMC which neither service wants to entertain, but I'm just a dumb Army medical officer

having part of the professional pipeline for SEALs be time with conventional Marine units would be a great check on their development. but the USN and USMC would never do it

the other aspect of the Rangers (and SFGs) is that as they promote (almost all) inevitably rotate back to conventional units at some point where a lot of the laxity they enjoy in SOF aren't present which keeps the minimum acceptable standard higher. I think this is the biggest diff with SEALs

Anyway, as always TANSTAAFL but this one was totally preventable by just accepting the tiny harms from CFC inhalers or by government intervention to buy pharma companies out of their HFA patents to offset the effect on asthma sufferers. We did neither.

In 2015 an analysis in JAMA found that the switch from CFC to HFA albuterol inhalers approximately doubled out of pocket costs for consumers on average. Tons of prior work shows higher costs leads to less use and less use for asthmatics means more hospitalization/death
Impact of Chlorofluorocarbon Ban on Albuterol Inhaler Use for Asthma
Using private insurance data from 2004 to 2010, this study investigates the effect of the chlorofluorocarbon ban on out-of-pocket costs and utilization of albuterol inhalers among individuals with ast...

Breath of fresh airEnvironmental concerns fuel transition from CFC to HFA asthma inhalers
The transition from chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) to hydrofluoralkane (HFA) as a propellant in inhaled pressurized metered-dose inhaler (pMDI) asthma medications is well under way. Pediatricians should fam...

Eliminating CFC use in medication deliveries (by removing its carveout from the Montreal protocol) cost tens of billions in drug costs and certainly led to unnecessary death and hospitalization for a very nontrivial number of people. Here's a 2008 article:
Unlikely Victims of Banning CFCs--Asthma Sufferers
New CFC-free inhalers cost three times more than their CFC counterparts
