The U.S. prison system's inhumanity is always bad, even when it's a bad person being subjected to it.

Reminder that the correct opinion is: prison is meant for the safety of the general public and, hopefully, the rehabilitation of the prisoner (sorta the same thing), not to punish people with sub-human living conditions. "Being a terrible person" is not the same as "requiring maximum security."

Seems to me he's genuinely concerned that the left's many valid objections to LLM's business models, environmental / social impact, absurd levels of investment and valuation, abuse-enabling, and ownership by the world's worst...might have led to a belief that it's *all* snake oil, nothing to fear.

This feels right. And his defense will max out at "bad". But I still think there's a greater than 25% chance he's an all star at some point, and that will suck. Value is probably about right, and if this means we get Quentin long-term, it's probably the right move. But.

It has SUCH narrow use cases. I paste text PDFs into websites with some frequency, and Copilot helped me create a script, saved to a browser bookmark, that automatically removes the undesired carriage returns from the pasted text. I never could have done that on my own. I'd also be fine without it.
