PHFA SPOTLIGHT ON HEALTH: The Affordability Pathway is exemplified by the City of Bethlehem’s Alley House Program. AHP aims to tackle the housing shortage through zoning reform & reducing barriers for homeowners/renters by pairing streamlined construction with long-term affordability commitments.

PHFA SPOTLIGHT ON HEALTH: The third pathway, through which housing impacts health, is the Affordability Pathway. According to a Pew Research report, 53% of PA renter households spent at least 30% of their income on rent in 2023. This earns them the designation of being housing “cost burdened.”
