Librarian, writer; I find refuge in forest and garden; I am consoled by philosophy.
The democratic victory (deliberate small "d") has got me in a good mood. Of course MAGA isn't just going to whine and roll over. They are going to do some very nasty things to fight back. But hey, maybe there's hope and they will get their butts kicked by the pendulum swing.
Anyway, here's a cat.

I am going to bask in the joy of a blue sweep, celebrate the election of Mamdani, and allow myself some hope that the pendulum is starting to swing in the opposite direction. Dammit, this is a cynicism-free zone for at least the next 24 hours.
And here's a cat!

How do you fight an administration who simply ignores the law? We celebrate a court victory, but who enforces the ruling? We protest and they dismiss us. Our outrage is irrelevant. Even our votes may be engineered into impotence. I will continue to resist, but it feels pointless.
So, here's a cat.

It isn't clinical depression if you have a whopping good reason to be depressed. Anxiety in a tense, stress-ridden situation is natural; its absence would be abnormal. Mental ill-health is epidemic because we are living in barking insane times, no medicating our way out.
Oh, and here's a cat.

Bernie Sanders in Concord New Hampshire speaking to a crowd of more than 4000 (estimated from drone footage). This is how I celebrated Labor Day.

At book group last night I let it slip that I had published some of my writing. Everyone leaped onto this and now want to do one of my books for group. One woman offered to read all three and recommend one. I’m not sure how I feel about this. One always fears rejection
