Despite what many think, you don’t vote for a party or a leader in an election. You just vote for an individual, who may or may not, belong to a political party at the time of the election. So they can change parties or have none, and you have zero say. Only PR will give you what you think you have.

He has also been chucked out the party, so no way back for him, only a back water job in reform available now I think

Well of course the standards committee could do something about that, like they have been asked to do by the government, but after year of thinking about it they are yet to do much apart from having the odd meeting.
