We passed one on Massachusetts. It's raised more revenue than projected, and none of the rich people who threatened to leave the state over it actually did.
a wealth tax is a winning issue.
"For the first time, a majority of Americans believe billionaires are a threat to democracy. A remarkable 71 percent believe there should be a wealth tax. A majority believe there should be a cap on how much wealth a person can accumulate."

As you may know, I have stopped using Twitter, and have decided to reproduce some of my more memorable threads here for posterity. Here’s one I hold wrote after a particularly engaging swordfighting lesson.

Buckle up, swordfighting fans, because I *have* studied my Agrippa!

I hope this skeet finds you either cozily ensconced in your warm dwelling, perhaps wearing a nice sweater or wrapped in a lovely lap blanket, or else trekking through new-fallen snow under the dawn sky, perhaps with a dog at your side, both of you wearing appropriately warm coats against the chill.

There are specific reasons Trumpists want war on Venezuela, but there‘s a generic one: they crave power to make war on anyone, any time, for completely fabricated reasons, and then to use the guise of war to increase violence and repression everywhere, including home.

They are lawless bestial scum.

These would be excellent changes for red states as well. If presented correctly, most of them wouldn't be unpopular in red states.
I am often asked what laws I would recommend blue states adopt. While there is no one-size-fits-all approach, there are seven changes every state could adopt right now, for virtually no cost or administrative burden. www.democracydocket.com/opinion/seve...

I've long been interested in Jane McGonigal's idea of "living gamefully": using the structures that make games compelling to convince yourself to do something you think is worth doing.

I'm thinking of a modest variation: Using story structure to do the same.

Better than "gameification" of exercise: "storyfication" of exercise
Just lately I've started thinking about a modest alternative to gameification: storyfication, where you use the structures of fiction to motivate yourself to do whatever it is you want to do.
