“When we put into the world an alternative notion of how it could or should be, we take a little bit of power away from the people who tell us that this is all we can have.”

And that means protestors and protest planners need a plan for how they will watch out for and diffuse any emergent violence. We should self identify as people willing to play peacekeeper and security roles at protests, for example.
philiploring.com
I also think we need to watch out for hired instigators / false flag activities that try to make us look violent when we refuse to be.

There is no bottom to what they are willing to do. Nowhere they will not go to get their way.

I remember when Very Smart People™️ were calling our behavior at the hands off and no kings rallies “too cringe”

Trump & Co. want us to get aggressive, violent even, because that’s what they’d do, and that’s the pretext they need for their own escalation

We fight that by instead showing up with joy

Most “evidence” the media offers of a “culture war” is like this. Fueled by outrage on one side and imagined on the other.

It is not a volley/escalation in a culture war to put Bad Bunny on the stage. Or to write “happy holidays” on a coffee cup.

It’s an enactment of diversity. They hate diversity

I fear if things don’t change right now, this image is going to come back to haunt us
Laura Rodriguez, on Twitter:

A federal agent points a weapon at a woman who was recording them.

Jess, a U.S. citizen and member of a neighborhood patrol team that documents and shares ICE activity across the city, was filming when the incident occurred earlier today in the Berwyn area.

I’m in a bar in DC full of of people younger than me and they are playing Life of a Showgirl start to finish and everyone seems really happy about it.

Just saying.

My hypothesis is that it’s easier (or more palatable?) for Klein et al. to declare liberalism a failure than to recognize/admit capitalism’s active obstruction of the liberal project

What I’m saying is: were these three dudes and their ilk just Obama-era creatures who are now in a new landscape where their views are more closely interrogated?

Or like…does massive success somehow fuck with your politics?

Or…..I don’t know.

I wrote about why the regrettable conclusions of Ezra Klein pissed me off so badly in the last couple weeks.

On moral cowardice in an era that calls for clarity, and a popular political instinct to try to solve divisions of abuse by ignoring causes. www.the-reframe.com/eventually-y...

Every time Taylor Swift releases music there are invariably folks that say its terrible because she didn’t make the kind or vibe of music they thought she should.

Which kind of completely misses the point of Taylor’s music.

SCOOP — Pennsylvania prosecutors were alerted to possible voting irregularities by one of MAGA's leading voices against voter fraud. A long paper trail shows Jack Posobiec has been living in Maryland but voting using his parents' PA address for years.

A long paper trail shows that Jack Posobiec casts a ballot in one state and lives in another.

"AI is the visual language of fascism"

Spot on and in a very multi-layered way.
mattgoldberg.bsky.social
Obviously, this is loser shit, but I think AI has really cemented itself as the visual language of fascism. It's anti-human, flattened, uninteresting, and cheap. It's like looking at a Potemkin Village and thinking that's the same as architecture.

NEW: Judge Simon, at “suggestion” of DOJ, recuses himself in the case over deployment of national guard to Oregon.

Case reassigned to Judge Karin Immergut, a Trump appointee.
ORDER - The Court has reviewed
Defendants' Suggestion of Recusal (ECF 22 ), which was filed by Defendants three days after the Court's telephonic scheduling conference with the parties and less than 24 hours before the scheduled hearing on Plaintiffs' Motion for Temporary Restraining Order (ECF 6). Although the Court does not believe that recusal is required under either federal law or the Code of Conduct for United States Judges, because it is necessary that the focus of this lawsuit remain on the critically important constitutional and statutory issues presented by the parties, the undersigned U.S. District Judge hereby recuses himself.
The Clerk of the Court has informed the

undersigned that this case has been randomly reassigned to U.S. District Judge Karin J. Immergut. Unless otherwise directed by Judge Immergut, the hearing on the pending motion will continue to be heard as scheduled on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in Courtroom 15B before Judge Immergut. Ordered by U.S.
District Judge Michael H. Simon. (mja)

Who are you talking to? “We have to come together” both-sides the divisiveness, deception, and abandonment of norms. Only one party is acting in bad faith, why is the burden on “we”?
