Retired. Was a public servant. Live in the Blue Mountains.
GM killing off Pontiac wouldn’t have helped, all the US volume for the GTO and the sedan models evaporated overnight. Platform lived on in the Camaro for a while.

Good point, just my speculative thoughts. Maybe German GM management just didn’t want them.

Ah, Renault. Such great designs, such heartache.

Possibly one market too many for Holden and maybe safety and compliance issues. The US models had the fuel tank relocated to meet rear impact regulations.

Insurance covered replacements but they were no longer available. New set looked OK and were round with tyres, which was a bonus under the circumstances.

They also liked the lovely Japanese Enkei alloy wheels I bought for it. Left the car sitting flat on its belly on the street when they stole them.

I particularly liked the Meteor front styling. So did the local car thieves, but that’s another story.

Ford also restyled the front and rear of the Mazda 323 for the Laser and Meteor. Sold lots of them, too. I bought this Meteor new in 82.

Sold lots of them, so it worked.

After a closer look, I think it’s a Commodore Berlina. The Lexcen had the trim higher up on the waistline. Still a rare one, especially in that condition.

I may stand corrected, but that side trim suggests it’s the much rarer Toyota Lexcen. Dinosaur teeth rare, if so.

That’s a big Christmas lunch.

The irony is delicious.

Correct, my memory failed me there. Cheers.

RHD wipers fitted, but the holes for the LHD wipers were still there, filled with black rubber plugs. My hair was still there then. Oh well.
