Today, workers at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania announced they are forming a union and joining us in Philly Cultural Workers United - AFSCME District Council 47 Local 397.

We are excited to welcome these Philly cultural workers as the seventh chapter of Local 397!

Earlier this week, our chapter at the Penn Museum voted unanimously to ratify their new union contract! Their win follows weeks of intense negotiations. The previous contract expired on June 30th and members had voted unanimously to authorize a strike if necessary.

PMA contract ratified! Last night, members of our chapter at the Philadelphia Museum of Art voted 99% to ratify a new 3-year union contract! The founding chapter of our local, PMA Union has been fighting for many of the wins in this contract since first unionizing in 2020!

The resolution stipulates specific actions so that Philly CWU “stands in solidarity with all communities under attack….We stand united with all workers, particularly the most vulnerable among us. Solidarity is key to beating back the attacks on immigrants, workers, and unions.”
