The Cleveland Browns started the practice window for Deshaun Watson. Just a reminder that by virtue of signing a fully guaranteed 5/$230m contract, Watson has $46m coming to him next year plus an $80m cap hit and another $50 cap hit in 2027 if post-June 1 released. YIKES

Nothing says making a Hall of Fame voting statement like an anonymous David Wright only ballot
Ballot #5 is from a voter who wishes to remain anonymous. As a refresher, we are unable to report adds or drops, if any, on anonymous ballots.

This is the first ever known David Wright-only ballot. There will not be a unanimous inductee this year.

2 fun Phillies anniversaries on Dec 3. 51 years ago, the Phillies acquired Tug McGraw from the Mets and 7 years ago we traded for Jean Segura from the Seattle Mariners. Tug got the final out in the 1980 World Series and Jean led us to the 2022 NL Pennant

LOL! Within seconds of hitting publish I received the notification that the Sixers were fined $100k for violating league injury reporting procedures for Joel Embiid playing against the Hawks
Joel Embiid didn't play last night, just one game after not playing for 22 days. The Sixers have 3.5 more years of this uncertainty unless it eventually gets to a full year without him. Then it will mercifully and finally be medical retirement time.

"Mutual Interest" between the Eagles and Darius Slay. I know he has technically been the worst CB in the league, but I would take Darius Slay back in a heartbeat for this secondary (all that weird Micah Parsons interview stuff is forgotten)

Certain things are easier to do in the MLB offseason than others. For the Phillies, their top priority should not be resigning Kyle Schwarber. It needs to be fixing the outfield starting in center.

The Raiders spent a ton of money on coaches, traded for and paid a QB, gave out extensions, and bet big in the draft. They are a complete disaster. This was their plan? Pete Carroll needs to go home and Mark Davis needs to stop cosplaying his dad.

Cody Ponce is the first guy from Japan or Korea to sign this season, 3/$30m to the Blue Jays. Despite being the KBO MVP, he is not one of the guys we are waiting for. That would be Munetaka Murakami, Tatsuya Imai, and Kazuma Okamoto

The Raiders hired Chip Kelly, traded for Geno Smith, and drafted a running back #6 overall. It's obvious they should be in play for the #1 pick in the NFL Draft, but that sure as hell wasn't their intention!

The Phillies have clear needs and resigning Kyle Schwarber is NOT #1. They may say he is at the top of the list, but getting a CF is the biggest issue simply because after Harrison Bader, they are out of options

Looks like it's closer to 3/$45m with deferrals for Devin Williams and the Mets. I had 3/$42m with deferrals... Can I call that a win (pay no attention to having the team wrong)?
Devin Williams goes to the Mets 3/$50m. That's just under $17m per season. You have to wonder if they are preparing to spend another $20m+ on Edwin Diaz too. I had him at 3/$42m. Here are the rest of my MLB free agency predictions (part 3)
