looks like the article's dated to the end of last month, so you're probably safe from having caused this particular one, but I'm sure there will be more to come

this is the funniest thing the internet has produced in a long time, but only for the small group of us millennials who came of age around south london. amazing that an american has nailed this so perfectly

see Rudy's recent posts - they're actively spinning up their own AppView now

don't think a relay exit is necessary yet (I don't think they do relay bans?), but it shouldn't be hard for them to spin up if necessary

the initial paragraph is also quite technical; I'd look into simplifying it if possible, with the assumption that this email was being received by a non-technical user wanting to migrate to another PDS with as little fuss as possible

thumbs up in a formal context: +1, sure, let's do this
thumbs up in a nonformal context: be fr now. i have nothing but contempt for you. i never want to talk to you again

someone on the Motorola forums was having the same problem with the camera I've been having, but I just have to share the image they posted to demonstrate the issue.
it's the funniest shit I've ever seen in my life dude

The photo is of an elderly woman in gray clothes that has been so bizarrely processed that it looks both totally over and desaturated

Some of you are blaming @jay.bsky.team or @bsky.app in general, or claiming that this is being forced by @moderation.bsky.app. That could not be further from the truth. I'm shutting it down of my own volition because some of you can't be trusted to use this information reasonably and responsibly.

I have two 3090s idling in a machine and it's fine as long as it's not summer

I can strongly recommend not having 700W of heat output next to you in summer

I think things will eventually work out and we'll reach a new normal, but the intermediary period is going to be horrific

I'm not looking forward to the crimes that will be perpetuated and/or justified by barely-restricted videogen, foisted upon a population who won't understand until it's too late

the use case I can see, and approve of, is for creative productions: filmmaking, especially for those on a budget or for shots that would otherwise be impractical to create with current tooling

but that should be done with thought and care, not by giving everyone a reality-destroying machine gun

Plex and Jellyfin have a feature to auto-download subtitles from OpenSubtitles, which helps when I'm watching through those; a similar solution may be available for local playback

I've had to leave some of my left radical circles because the reactionary behaviour was simply too hard to ignore; it's easier/safer to self-exclude than to protest, because then you become a target

I want to be a part of circles that grapple with the problem, instead of trying to wishcast it away

my understanding, and the reason I haven't looked into them further, is that they're also very, very slow - as in 2000s-era spec

which is probably fine for fun experimentation, but unusable for a personal machine

disclaimer, I have a pro-AI bent, but this probably wouldn't work; it would drive demand up, which would encourage them to figure out ways to optimise it (they're already doing this, but more demand would speed up the process)

best bet, imo, is still to lobby against them, including politically

I respect the effort, dedication and *commitment* to the bit, except it doesn't seem to be a bit...

people bitch about this but, after years of getting owned by languages failing to draw the distinctions, I'm so glad that they exist

my only complaint is that it's not always obvious how to convert between various representations, even for a seasoned Rust programmer
