Well I thought it was interesting. Mostly about Cambridge. [email protected] / https://linktr.ee/philrodgers

The council aims to remove offensive graffiti within one day of receiving a report, and other graffiti within five days, so we'll see what happens. However they no longer remove graffiti on private property for free, which they used to do if it was visible from a public space.

It does seem that there's a lot more graffiti in Cambridge now compared to a few years ago. I don't report it all to cambridge.gov.uk/report-graff... because that would be a full-time job, but I did report this one on Riverside after seeing a small child cycling past it.

Nationally the results project a towering Reform UK majority of 96 seats, with Labour reduced to just 90 seats, mostly in London and Merseyside, and the Conservatives in fourth place behind the Lib Dems

Here are the Cambridgeshire seat results from the More In Common MRP poll, which nationally projects an astonishing annihilation of both Labour and the Conservatives by Reform UK. The local results are similar to the recent YouGov MRP, except that Reform take Huntingdon.

In Huntingdon, Ben Obese-Jecty manages to fend off the cyan tsunami of Reform UK, but it sweeps through NE and NW Cambs as well as Peterborough.

Projected vote shares for the Cambridgeshire seats from YouGov's latest MRP. Labour holds Cambridge - though no doubt the Greens will be ecstatic to be 0.2% ahead of the Lib Dems. The LDs retain South Cambs by a mile, SNMC by a kilometer, and Ely & E Cambs by a hundred yards or so.

Looking forward to a new culinary experience this evening as I'm heading to the Polish restaurant on Chesterton Road.

Yes I think the 2026 city council elections are shaping up to be pretty challenging for Labour. They are defending ten of the 14 seats, and probably only two or three of the ten are completely safe.

From page 20 it covers the campaign tactics Labour used in the 2019 Peterborough by-election where they rather surprisingly held the seat. However a few months later Paul Bristow took the seat for the Conservatives at the 2019 general election.

Just came across this interesting internal Labour party training material on "campaigning against minor and emerging parties". It's from 2019 but still pretty topical today, and features a few pieces of Cambridgeshire content. labour.org.uk/wp-content/u...

Incidentally I don't think the new site is correct when it says "The next time we get to vote for local politicians [after 2026] is likely to be when we get our new Unitary Authorities in 2028" - the new councils won't take over until 2028, but it's likely their first elections will be in May 2027

A second local Your Party website appears - independents4ypcambs.uk, alongside the existing yourpartycambridge.uk. "This is not a split", it insists, perhaps optimistically featuring pictures of both Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana.

If these changes go through, it will become literally impossible for members of the public to ask questions about items on meeting agendas, because the deadline for submitting the questions will be earlier than the deadline for publishing the agenda.
philrodgers.co.uk
Some ludicrous restrictions on public questions being proposed by the Combined Authority. Currently the deadline for public questions is 3 working days before a meeting; they want to change this to 7. Guess what the deadline for publishing the agenda is? shorturl.at/DQdrk (item 7)
