Physicist/chemist Katharine Burr Blodgett invented non-reflective glass in 1938.

It revolutionized optics & led to the coatings used today in everything from eyeglasses to phone screens. First woman to earn a PhD in #physics from Cambridge, 1926. She was born #OTD in 1898. #WomenInSTEM #inventor

We welcome the govt's recognition of science in today's #SpendingReview. But while £22.6bn/year for R&D is a positive step, we believe the UK still needs a strategic long-term plan for physical sciences to fully unlock the UK's potential in transformative technologies.
