I love flowers, always have, and the ones I most associate with these two are black dahlias. Jinn and Kili are a dragon who hoards the memories of their mortal loved ones through immortal life, so I feel like mourning and grief fits them.

An excerpt from a book. It reads: "See that?" Willow pointed towards a large Victorian style manor on a hill across from them. The building wasn't huge. Sure it was a big house, but it looked more like a residence than some rich asshole's show piece. The walls were part stone, part deep brown wood, giving the house a welcoming air, the effect added to by the warm yellow glow from its many windows. A porch ringed the entire building, a turret rising from the far corner. A low wall snaked around the property, metal spikes jutting from the same grey stone as the base of the house. A large vegetable garden occupied a corner of the yard, inside it a person with bright blue hair was on their knees digging around. "That, right there, is where we're staying." Once again, Sylvia's jaw hit the floor. "That!?" She pointed. "That is your house!?" A pang of something cold and sharp filled Sylvia's chest. Willow beamed, oblivious to the storm raging in her cousin's heart. "It's also a bookstore! Beula Hastings books." Sylvia raised an eyebrow. "Aren't you gonna get sued? With a name like Hastings Bookstore?" "Ah, but it's different! It's called Beula Hastings books. Not Hastings Bookstore." She winked. That almost made Sylvia smile. And the dark, hateful part of her settled, just a little.

From the not-so-urban fantasy I'm working on! Behold Beula Hastings, he/him lesbian and chronically overworked father of three. This scene takes place much later in the book as I write like a scientist creating life in a metaphor for childbirth, so it might change but one thing won't. He's tired.
An excerpt from a book. It reads: As she opened the door, Sylvia saw something she knew, on instinct, she wasn't supposed to see. Beula was sprawled across his desk chair, hands dragging down his face as he sat for what looked to be the first time all day. A bone rattling sigh escaped his lips before he could bite it back. "I'm too old for this." He chuckled. The token around his neck glowed as if in response to his words. He groaned, swatting aimlessly at the air above his head like someone trying to turn off an alarm clock. "I ain't quitting keep your panties on." He sighed again, the breath seeming to take a little of Beula's life force with it. For the first time, Sylvia saw that her aunt was tired. A kind of tired that never went away. A tired that seeped into the merrow until the lifeblood pumping in your veins became tainted with it. Beula was dead on his feet, and had been for twenty five years. His phone buzzed, harsh and loud against his desk, causing Sylvia to jump in surprise. Beula simply picked it up, a look of defeat filling his baggy eyes. "Hey Wally, whats up?" He gave a wry smile. "Yeah. Yeah, I'll be right there. No problem Wally." And he hung up. "Looks like another late night."

A snippet from my not-so-urban fantasy. I finally got the first chapter good enough for my brain to move on from it so here, I gift unto thee the fruits of my labour!
An excerpt from a book. It reads: If she saw one more "have a great summer!" she was gonna lose it. There were twenty-five people in her graduating class. Twenty, five. And twenty three of them had written the exact same God damn thing. Have a great summer. The message you wrote to people you don't give a shit about. Sylvia normally liked the last day of school. It was fun to picture everyone as they were, to freeze them in time before the lonely summer days changed them forever and left Sylvia exactly the same. But this time there would be no next year, no update on the same twenty five people she'd known for almost ten years. No reintroduction of noise and similarity come August. No, this time they were actually graduating. She knew, no matter what they said, that none of her classmates would think of Sylvia Hastings ever again. And if they did, it wouldn't be by that name.

The mysterious goddess chuckled, which nearly caused Sylvia to explode. She reached out a hand. Unlike Willow, this woman had no callouses. Her hands were smooth and so god damn soft! Shaking them felt like glorious gay heaven. "I'm Cordelia Piper, but the people I like call me Delia, you should too." She winked. Honest to god winked at her. "I've heard it from others, but I like to hear it from the source. Tell me your name?" That sunlit feeling hit her like a beat up red pick up truck. "My name's Sylvia Scott Hastings." That was weird. She never gave her full name. She hated her full name. God what was this girl doing to her? Delia cocked her head. "Pretty name, I like it." Sylvia stammered something unintelligible before simply nodding and swallowing hard. The woman chuckled again. "Well, looks like I'm going to be your driver, seeing as Willow forgot her four wheeler again."

Obviously they'd left the mech back on The Euterpe, Circi still had no idea what to do with him, but they couldn't just *sell* him. He has rights. Well, he technically didn't, but he should. "Because the clerks are sharks and I don't like feeding them." Circi didn't have to look at her girlfriend to see the confused, yet incredulous expression on her face. She grinned to herself. "You do realize," Eva grunted, tugging the heavy cart over a gap in the floor plating. "That explains absolutely nothing?" Circi spun, walking backwards to allow Eva to see the shit eating grin reserved special for her. "Yes." Eva rolled her eyes, unable to hide her affection.

If you like happy bubbly feelings and astronomical amounts of representation then I highly recommend checking this book out. It's pure chaos from beginning to end but it's just so wholesome adorable and dorky I couldn't put it down! 10/10 would take the wild ride again!
