His character is fine, but the game uses him to re-explain something the player has already seen.
Like you hit a switch and the game shows the unlocked door, then the game has him re-explain that. Weirdly, I think Retro was aware of this and just cuts off his dialogue on occasion, but I’m early in.

But to circle back, I don’t think 167-168 do enough for Asa, but serve to highlight Yoru’s continued parasitizing of Asa and Denji’s continued problems around intimacy, sex, and perception.

I think the story allowing it to happen and going only as far as stating it as a misperception of Asa’s personality to Denji gives the people who don’t care an excuse to continue not caring.
Like if Asa was sexually active and made no ruckus about friendship or romance, then her reaction would make
