No surprise. “Bills for pet owners have risen as corporate ownership has increased - by more than 60% between 2015 and 2023, figures from the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) show. This is almost double the rate of inflation or the increase in #vet salaries over that time.”1/
Vets say they are under pressure to bring in more money per pet
Some tell the BBC they are encouraged to compete over the number of procedures they carry out on pets.

“The CMA is currently investigating concerns about corporations buying hundreds of independent vet practices, pushing up prices and making potentially excessive profits. It is expected to deliver provisional recommendations in May or June.” 2.

How solar works for our budget:
I produce 10,000kWh of energy
I don't buy energy from the global market
I save and spend £5000 in the UK
UK GDP just grew by £5000
1/3 of our listed property is wasting away unheated! So bad understanding of renewals. @edmilliband.bsky.social ££ generated from renewals STAY IN THE UK, they don't go to Russia or Saudi. It's like having oil wells in the UK without drilling. What is difficult to comprehend here????
2/ So PVs needed to generate power and make heat pump economical. have been able to take this one on the chin, but it certainly isn't cheap. Good return on investment 9guaranteed 5.3 %), but only a few can afford that.

The most important architectural features are inside, but these are often not protected. So I had to shell out for a planning application...
Yet (1) King's College Chapel has PVs, so the precedent is set and
(2) if we don't do it we will have to bulldoze and build new and lose all our heritage.

Precisely!!! My 1880s house has a gigantic roof and we could light and heat our house through solar, but for some reason pumps are subsidised, but solar panels or storage batteries NOT! 🤔
Pump manufacturers have better lobbyists?
So upsetting. 🥴
@edmilliband.bsky.social
Moreover, given the age of most of our housing stock, a heat pump is uneconomical for larger properties unless you are able to generate your own power.
It is a no brainier
1. PVs
2. Heat pump.
3. defossilised homes

Listening on BBC with my solar instal quote in front of me, nearly affordable. Would cover 80% of my usage. I will get NO GOVERNMENT INCENTIVE TO INSTALL IT 😡
Why pumps get grants but solar DON'T? Heat pumps without solar make no economic sense. Rethink! it's a simple tweak

1/Energy bills are set to rise again due to a spike in global gas markets, with wholesale gas prices up 15% since the last energy price cap was announced.

This will put up energy bills because of our reliance on global fossil fuel markets controlled by petrostates and dictators.

Newbury train station car park:
I can't park there because after the multi million ££ 'improvement' project, this car park is for permit holders only. Nobody wants permits, so the car park stands empty. We park in random streets being a nuisance to residents @heidialexander.bsky.social
