Today Gordon Downey was sentenced for subjecting me to over two years of homophobic abuse. The court has imposed a three year restraining order & a substantial fine for his hateful conduct. It’s so important we stand up to hate and I want the LGBTQ community to know that #LoveWins, always.

Whenever I tell people about these examples, they are far too often not interested in the details, but start a sentence with ‘but’.

Instead of being emotionally affected by the fact that so much is possible if only we finally start to stop seeing road death as a natural cause of death.

When?
“They cut speed limits, changed street design, removed space for cars… Now it appears that work is paying off. #Oslo & #Helsinki are reaping the rewards of committed action on making their roads safer, reducing pedestrian fatalities to zero last year.” #VisionZero #SpeedKills
How Helsinki and Oslo cut pedestrian deaths to zero
After years of committed action, neither city recorded a single pedestrian fatality in 2019

I suspect that the occasional people who try hard to convince me to “follow the teachings of Christ” would be more persuasive if they, in any real way, followed the actual teachings of Christ.

THE OLIGARCHS WHO REGRET SUPPORTING HITLER

He was among the richest men. 1933, in exchange for a political favor, Hugenberg made possible Adolf Hitler’s appointment as chancellor. Before he sealed his pact, he was warned that this was a deal he would regret.

Why should cities invest in cycling (infrastructure, parking, sharing) as a first/last mile solution?

It vastly extends the reach of the public transport system; reducing congestion and creating more equitable access to opportunity for those without the privilege of proximity.

Dear German friends — we’re hearing in Canada how the far-right extremist AfD party is polling well in part because they’re “strong on social media”, Elon Musk’s interference, & their attempts to appear mainstream. Please look closely at the chaos Musk & extremists are creating in the United States.
