If my friend's dog's name is Churro, and she has a VERY different accent from, will the dog understand when I'm calling his name? Will he know to equate my schwar with her [uɾ] realisation?

What the tech bros are calling "artificial intelligence" is actually a glorified probabilistic algorithm hooked up to the internet. Every person in my 11th grade math class programmed a basic Markov chain text generator well over a decade ago, so I'm not particularly impressed by spicy autocomplete.
I was one of the people who broke down LLM tech to explain during the WGA strike, and it’s amazing how a)rudimentary it really is and b) how many people still think it’s a magic box.

i am upset there is not a new word to mean ‘past tense verb’ and we just call it a ‘past tense verb’ i would like to propose calling verb with the ed ending a VORB. this is my recommendation

Kind of the opposite happened in the translation-to-English industry in recent years--as automation took over, it was the grunts who knew two-three-four languages, mostly immigrants, who got fired, while basically monolingual whites got promoted to "editor" and made better money...
