Thanks for looking!
DUST OF OSIRIS by Danielle Rose Baker. A painting of the top-down view of the opened sample return capsule from the OSIRIS-REx mission to asteroid Bennu. Circular sections and hexagonal bolts are seen among the rocky material in the middle ring, framed by lotus flower motifs and patterned circles with geometric ink designs drawn in an ancient Egyptian style with gold accents. A ring of painted turquoise, lapis and carnelian rectangles accented with gold surrounds the inkwork. Inspired by the decorative motifs of Tutankhamen’s treasures, and the Art Deco-tinged Egyptian Revival movement that arose from the discovery of said treasures. DAWN OF A NEW ERA by Danielle Rose Baker.
A watercolor painting of the second integrated launch of the SpaceX Starship and Falcon Super Heavy rocket on November 18, 2023. The rocket rises through a dawn-tinged sky from rose and peach exhaust, surrounded by a metallic Art Nouveau-esque border highlighted with ink. The background washes from blue at top to orange-pink at bottom. ASTRAL JELLYFISH by Danielle Rose Baker.
A pearlescent watercolor painting on black of the jellyfish galaxy JW39 as seen by the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope. The galaxy core is seen in golds and whites, with fainter arms punctuated by clusters of blue and pink, aglow with forming stars. This galaxy lies over 900 million light-years away in the constellation Coma Berenices and is part of a galaxy cluster. The intense gravitational pull of its larger neighboring galaxies distorts its shape, and as it drifts through the cluster, hot plasma between galaxies has stripped star-forming gases into long tendrils and ribbons, resembling jellyfish. HAÍFOSS WATERFALL, ICELAND by Danielle Rose Baker. A watercolor painting of a waterfall and river landscape in Iceland, seen against multi-layered cliffs capped by dark lava plains, some overgrown by green plants. The water is icy blue and flows towards distant mountains. A cloudy evening sky is seen in moody purples and yellows.

Yeah a lot of this in hindsight was fueled by undiagnosed ADHD 😂 but hey, now I know (at 47!) Better late than never right?

Hannah Fry knows five words to make you happy.

A bit more economical than the Technomage's 14 words?

I wrote up a seven-day mapping trip for field camp AND HAND-DREW THE GEOLOGICAL MAP in an all-nighter the night before it was due, on Jolt Cola, turned it in at 8 am, and got in the van to go to the next location. Got an A. GenAI can go fuck itself.

I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.
wrote 20 pages on Faulkner's The Bear four hours before final papers were due on trucker pills and coffee and cigarettes and got an A, fuck you.
You people couldn't hang with real slackers.

My one tiny regret is not hearing/noticing if the car alarms went off in the parking lot. Too busy staring and weeping lol.

Saw a space shuttle launch in person from the KSC press site and made some of the best friends of my life. Social media literally changed my life.

Love it! I’m leaning towards the acronym, though certainly the other one is accurate 😅

Okay #geology and #space friends, I need opinions. Working on a new shirt/sticker design for @rckhnd.com . Bottom is the first text I came up with, but then I thought, NASA is built on acronyms so ROCKS should be an ACRONYM. (Maybe not the best acronym—open to suggestions.)

Which do you prefer?
Photo of my monitor showing two versions of a t-shirt design. The word “ROCKS” is shown in red in the style of the NASA “worm” logo. The top version has black text underneath that reads “Rockhounding Obsessed Cool Kids Society” (hello, I am nine years old apparently.) The bottom version has black text underneath that reads “I Love Space and Rocks. And Space Rocks.” (Accurate.)

I am STUPIDLY EXCITED about this. My first trademark ever! 😍 What a process this was.

#SpacetoberChallenge day 6: #Constellation - just a quick rendering in pencil of my oldest celestial friend, the Big Dipper.

#SciArt #illustration #SpaceArt #SpaceArtist #AstroArt #Spacetober
A pencil sketch of the seven stars composing the Big Dipper, with lines connecting the constellation, in a chubby square lavender sketchbook. A gray Blackwing 602 pencil lies diagonally above the drawing.

SCOOP — The White House instructed all federal agency leadership on Tuesday to send out a mandatory message to workers blaming the impending potential government shutdown on House Democrats, The Handbasket was first to learn. Absolutely no modifications to the email were permitted.

My story:
Trump mandates all federal agencies send email blaming Dems for potential gov’t shutdown
Workers call the partisan email "a vile slap in the face."

Not me looking up the exact NASA Red and Blue CMYK colors to make sure a spoof logo is “correct”, oh no.

That definitely wasn’t me. [bookmarks page]

Since last we spoke, I had a birthday over the weekend, went to the Oregon Zoo, watched a baby elephant high-center itself on a ball and angry-toot at it (except it was just NOT threatening AT ALL, in ANY WAY), and then I was down with a cold the past few days. Action packed over here. 🙄

Finding good information is hard.

A study done on 2.5M pregnant women who took Tylenol during pregnancy showed no adverse fetal effects.

However, pregnant women with untreated fevers had increased fetal risk of:

Neural tube,
Heart,
And abdominal wall,

Defects.

Plus cleft palate and more!
