My dad called our pool a hole in the ground he threw money into… and loved every minute of having it. Kept him in the great shape he’s still in long after selling the house. I don’t think we should be making it harder to have backyard pool.

They help with urban heat islands. And if you’ve ever tried to register a kid for swim classes in a public pool… well, good luck.

I know it sounds weird to say that pools are important.. but they are. I grew up with one, and half the houses on my street had them. They were almost a community resource for kids in the neighbourhood, with after school and weekend pool parties happening all the time.

The pool shown in the photos required a 5% soft landscaping variance that will go to around 25% under the proposed changes. Expect more staff opposition if it passes.

Toronto Parks has been operating as if deadlines and budgets are irrelevant. Suddenly there’s a shortage.

No, only 3 months rent and right of first refusal. Alternative they can provide a replacement unit. I believe her original unit won’t exist anymore when the addition is put on. (I don’t have all the details)
