19 years I was contacted by a student who wanted to make a class project video about urban exploration (which I was big into). My self and an Urbex team mate brought them into Hamilton’s Lister Block and the Brock Works. A little cringe, but hey some cool shots.

It looks like a really great plan, and it has nothing remotely similar to the “existing neighbourhood character” fetishizing that Toronto’s does in 4.1.5
BIG NEWS! Our new city-wide Plan for Langford, BC is a FINALIST for the Canadian Institute of Planners AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE!

I love the message this recognition sends— you don’t need a big city & a big budget to create cutting-edge planning for a better city. We showed a better way in a small city.

Tucked into the proposed zoning changes to try and prevent iceberg homes in Toronto is a change that’s going to make it harder to have a backyard pool city-wide. Very much feels like, again, a solution in search of a problem.
Putting a pool in your backyard? It could become a lot more expensive, says Toronto councillor | CBC News
If you're putting together plans for a backyard pool in Toronto right now — and according to urban planners and pool builders, this is the time of year to be doing it — you may be in for a nasty surpr...

“The development that, 120 years ago, so galled its neighbours is now regarded as a heritage building of such importance that its tenants had hoped to maintain it as-is for years to come.”

If this city stands any chance of solving the housing crisis, it will need multiplexes in residential neighbourhoods—a move that has many residents saying, “Anywhere but here!”

ANALYSIS: Is 2026 the year Ontario will finally get to work taking on the housing crisis? | TVO Today
For five years, the Ford government has done anything on the housing file except the things that would make a difference.

Clearly the sign isn’t big enough.
Safe Parkside is reporting another high speed crash today. Doug Ford’s Ontario &, apparently, the one Ontario voters want.

Tho Toronto not off hook here - city & local councillor did nothing long before Ford’s meddling despite pleas for them to act.

We have a consultation problem. I write about a Toronto rec centre that will have taken 14 years to plan, cost at least three times the original budget - and be a bad building.

What is the cost of consultation?
Toronto recreation centre that started as $40-million project in 2016 has ballooned to nearly $113-million before construction even starts

That being said, Etobicoke, North York, and Scarborough *still* have lower densities than what they thought they should aim to achieve by 1980.

It's still the 50s so if you read the rest of that section they are aiming for what I consider low densities and they want to drop the density of downtown and the west end.
