Man, who knows what you'd get with this order. A staghorn sumac or a highly invasive tree of heaven. Don't trust a site that doesn't even know what their plant looks like enough to post the correct pictures in listings.

AND DON'T BUY/PLANT TREE OF HEAVEN

Just went for a neighborhood walk to listen to an audiobook and enjoy the warmer weather. Noticed some fresh erosion along the creek and suddenly realized that I’d never considered how it’s not static. Duh. I mean DUUUH. But now I’m off to google earth to look at Timelapse images!

@chaseprairie.bsky.social hey, I asked on insta and am hoping to find the best way to buy your dissertation. I had it saved on Amazon but was hoping to catch it stocked on etsy. Will there be any more available? ❤️❤️‍🩹

Heartbreaking news… Tonight, many of our friends were let go, and tomorrow, even more will follow. Word is that all probationary employees at NPS will be let go. 😭

Having such a hard time going to sleep. It’s 2:50am here. Watching all the posts and comments on Reddit about people who were sacked today and all those anticipating losing their jobs over the next few days. ❤️

One time I applied for unemployment, was denied, appealed, denied again. I have never been more interested in unemployment statistics or how they’re calculated than right now.

I’m jumping around in my factsheets, actively avoiding actual writing. Still gathering info, trying to be thorough. But also, I need every possible *academic* description of how a callery pear smells when it’s blooming. I’ve got a nice list going 😂

In other news… I *may* have found a new (project) table for my trailer. It needs a lot of work no matter what I do with it but I also need to see it if even fits. No, I do not get “ready” to get kiddo from school. What is a brush?

I’m still frozen as far as my summer job offer goes. Trying to focus on the job I have right now and organizing the house so it’ll be good to go if I do leave.

‘Doom’ scrolling like it’s my job.

Anyone know some niche things about how Cornus drummondii is native in some places and invasive in others?

Or how long it's been known to be invasive? And why it's still recommended without a lot of ***'s?

Seems like the distinction is wetland vs. grassland and grassland is the issue.

I think I’m going to try to do some work today for the first time in like 6 weeks. Winter break started, then I broke the end of my index finger and have been splinted and now scared to type… I’m gonna try tho. See how it goes. Let’s not waste this adderall and coffee on doomscrolling 🥹

This is probably the dumbest idea I’ve had:

Nomex wrap skirt.

For working in the fire tower. Not so much for field work because I’d have chiggers up my butt hiking to plots.

Oh well. I ordered fabric for a pattern I already have but it needs pockets.

I’m still waiting to find out the definite status of the seasonal FS lookout job that I was offered and accepted on Friday before all the EOs started rolling out. Everything is in chaos.
The Trump Administration’s hiring freeze has led the National Parks Service to cancel job offers for seasonal employees. We are concerned this could leave our parks understaffed during the busy summer season, which sees over 100 million visitors annually.

Okay Bluesky. I’m waiting 😂

Here’s a small bit of who I am this week:
I work seasonally doing things like biological science monitoring and staffing a fire tower. I go where I’d like, when there’s an opening. Seasonal work is awesome. I got a job offer Friday w USFS, accepted. I still don’t know if they’ll be able to hire me.😫

I really want to be over here on this app but it’s not really happening. I’m having a hard time getting into it compared to others. I’ve searched topic I’m interested in and followed but I feel like it’s all news, not as personal. Is that how it’s supposed to be?
