You can simultaneously recognize that (a) sacrifices must be made in order to obtain power in the American system, and (b) because of (a), candidates, even the ones we vote for, are not heroes, cannot be absolutely trusted, and are never entitled to uncritical support.

Also, there is a reason I never trust anyone seeking a position of power within the American empire.

I can believe someone is better than the alternative. I can find them an acceptable vehicle for harm reduction.

I hate to say it but the majority of the country is not going to die on the hill of trans rights. We can’t protect ANY groups if we can’t win a national election, so purity tests only serve to make specific groups feel triumphant. That’s not “erasing” them; it’s long-horizon strategy.

idk it just feels like a lot of you have these hefty expectations of what a partner needs to be to be 'worthy' of you but if that partner lost their job, as is very possible for just abt any reason under current systems, it just feels like you'd fold on them.
