Even if the inclusion of this motif wasn't intentional, I still think it's so apropos, and it made me love the movie even more :)

I can only imagine this was a purposeful choice by the composer made for such a fun film that even includes a self-referential joke about how Scooby Doo it is and I love it.

here's the motif in question

Even with all the issues and thoughts I have about this film, this is the only one I thought was worth sharing. Nosferatu is an intriguing film that uses the titular vampire to discuss how scary sex can be.

This trauma is not exclusive to women, as seen during a scene wherein Thomas is coerced by the vampire to consenting against his will, leading to him being drained in bed.

The desire for sexual desire being ripped apart by a man who doesn't care for the word "no" is all I could think about as she lie, writhing in the wet earth.

This metaphor could even extend to the fear of sexual assault and the lasting trauma that accompanies it. The opening scene when Ellen first meets the Count destroyed me.

After seeing the film twice, I believe there is a valid reading where Nosferatu is not only a metaphor for disease but specifically STIs. Using sex as a way to spread from person to person and eventually corrupt the whole town.

The act of feeding in this film is explicitly sexual. The eroticism in both how victims react to the blood-sucking and the air Orlok has about him as he stands, nude and looming, over his victims let's us as an audience know this.
