“Show me what comic you loved when you were 13, and that's all I need to know about you.”

Democrats were warned not to get their fingerprints on this obvious propaganda bill, which now has bipartisan “cred.”
January 11, 2026 at 5:09 PM
If Democratic voters truly believe Trump's regime won't relinquish power, then that makes it even less likely you get a "bipartisan" nominee (e.g. Slotkin)

No matter the social media platform, people still seem intent on responding to posts without actually reading them.

This message from Kamala Harris is infuriating. Prior to January 6, 2025, @gothamgirlblue.com documented all the reasons WHY Democrats would've been well within their rights to object to Trump's certification. "American people had spoken" is both weak & ignores actual constitutional obligations.

If this is an issue, it's a party-line one, as mainstream liberals often rush to blame leftists for Trump or the SCOTUS's worst offenses.
January 4, 2026 at 11:29 PM
Pretty much everyone I've seen asking for action from Democrats *voted for Harris.* But this rhetoric is so common, I think @clairewillett.bsky.social and I discussed it almost 5 years ago when Biden was POTUS. (She was bullied online for daring to question Democratic tactics against the GOP.)
January 4, 2026 at 1:07 AM
Over at the other place, the usual suspects still blame the left for not simply assuming that Harris was obviously the anti-war candidate.
January 4, 2026 at 12:26 AM
As others have pointed out, this is willful defeatism, considering that there was a vote to release the Epstein files, in defiance of both Trump and the GOP House Speaker, in no small part due to a continual pressure campaign.

The anti-socialist narrative remains that normal people will never be able to enjoy any "luxury" items, fine dining, etc. Yet, Elon Musk is almost a trillionaire. Obviously, there is more than enough money for everyone to enjoy nice boots or watch videos called "Lady Commie Puts On Pricey Boots"
January 3, 2026 at 5:53 PM
The “Biden was stabbed in the back narrative” is pure MAGA brain. It is not even more intellectually or morally correct than Trump saying Pence should have shown more “courage.”

If your politics leave no room for grace and forgiveness, it should not surprise you when they are ineffective.

It'll soon be 50 years since Jimmy Carter won the presidency with 48 percent (!) of the white vote. He also swept the South. It's an entirely different coalition than the modern Democratic Party.
December 30, 2025 at 9:13 PM
I don't disagree with this, but I also don't think you can look at the Obama backlash in a vacuum. I recall similar sentiments when Bill Clinton won in 1992. A significant segment of the Right has refused to accept Democratic presidents as "legitimate."
December 30, 2025 at 9:10 PM
1) This rhetoric is never effective. It's the political version of mocking the woman who dated a guy who turned out to be a creep and then expecting her to go out with you now.

2) Obama didn't need former presidents to convince key demos to vote for him. That was always a dilemma for Harris.
December 30, 2025 at 7:24 PM
I don't think there's any way impeachment *helps* Trump. It arguably didn't help Clinton.People might confuse correlation with causation. This is what was happening when Clinton was impeached.

It’s fine to not like superhero movies but blaming them for every perceived ill in modern cinema, most of which is exaggerated, is absurd

I feel like this is not the hill to die on, especially since I've long found it slightly offensive that people assume a major obstacle for POC attending the theater is financial.
December 23, 2025 at 12:14 AM
As @gothamgirlblue.com and @senategabe.bsky.social have both observed, Democrats proactively abdicating their constitutional duty is not canny strategy, it's cowardice.
December 14, 2025 at 8:40 PM
"We will do nothing to hold Trump and his regime accountable for the next two years if you put us in charge" is not an inspiring message. This isn't 2017. Replacing the GOP House was *by itself* enough to derail much of Trump's agenda in 2019.

And the thing is Dems like Clinton supported the war bc they believed it was in their political best interests. They ran toward the polling and dismissed the “fringe left.”
December 12, 2025 at 3:32 AM
Centrist Democrats have the right to their opinions but people like my friends @robynelyse.bsky.social and @clairewillet can probably confirm how few centrist Dems were at those anti-Iraq War protests in 2003.
December 12, 2025 at 3:12 AM
Why is a sitting U.S. senator behaving like a cranky MAGA uncle who scours Fox News for outrage bait? What is the audience for the “liberal podcaster”? It’s likely more people saw the supposed insult because Fetterman posted it to his followers — seemingly to stoke more rage.

To the extent that these numbers reflect the larger Texas population, then Texas is pretty red.

Yes, Keenan Thompson was in that 2004 Megan Mullally SNL episode. This is from before I met my wife and when I actually still watched the show live.
