in they go for the long nap...aaahhh
five plastic bins inside of a black wine refrigerator. the bins are clear and coconut husk can be seen inside all 5 bins, as well as a water dishes in a few. each bin is labeled with a name, and current weight in grams. a large thermometer display is in front of the tubs on the top shelf.

got a Poecilotheria regalis sling over the weekend and she finally came out for a semi-decent shot. no one told me pokie slings are fuzzy...

I got to hold the dad and he was such a sweet chonk of a leachie. if mine turns out anything like him I will be SO happy 🦎

NARBC was a success, sold everything I had with me AND I got my dream gecko!! Extremely happy with the day.
a leachieanous gecko in a clear deli cup labeled "Pair Y, 8/20/24". the gecko is a light pastel green, with light pink bars down the back and mottled darker green spots between the bars and scattered throughout the body. the same gecko being held in a hand, now far more fired up. the pink bars are more saturated, and the rest of the body is streaked with dark green on a lighter green background. a food scale and contents of a plastic shoebox (lined with paper towel with a piece of cork bark, square water dish, and feeding cup) can be seen in the background. the same gecko again now clinging to a black shirt. to the right is a printed logo partially cut off that says "colubrid" with a grey banded kingsnake and eastern kingsnake wrapped together.

Gallotia galloti eisentrauti, Northern Tenerife lizard. absolutely unreal looking

I fell asleep before I could post examples but this is what I mean. first photo is an African import, the rest are captive bred and posted to social media with no mention or seeming awareness of what's wrong with it
a photo of a ball python for sale from Outback Reptiles; this one is imported directly from Africa, from field-collected eggs. note the proportion of the head before and after the eyes, and the slight rounding of the snout another ball python from an online listing. this one has a straight, square snout that is elongated, and a head that appears "swollen" in comparison (it's not actually swollen it's just the weird head structure) another post with two hatchling ball pythons, both from the same clutch (I think). the one on the left has a fairly normal snout, but displays the odd swollen look on the head. the one to the right has a fairly normal head, but an elongated and narrow snout another photo of an online listing, with a hatchling ball python sitting in someone's hand. the snout on this one is badly elongated and narrow, with an oddly flat head as well. the head almost appears to have the same width as the neck, extremely abnormal for ball pythons.

Haro was a very good girl at the vet, and I have more direction on how to handle her case going forward. she's probably gonna always need help shedding her face and I should keep her environment more sterile than usual to prevent any infections, if they occur at all 🐍

same snake, same shit, different days 🐍
a hatchling Dione's rat snake (Elaphe dione) wrapped in a ball around a barely-visible pinky mouse. tongs are still holding the mouse up so the snake is also being held up by the tongs the same snake, now larger, wrapped around tongs in the same manner. the same snake, even larger still, now wrapped around rainbow hemostats holding a mouse. this time, the snake has coiled around the whole length of the hemostats so they are clamped shut while she bites the mouse's head.
