He blends into the city the way ash disappears into wind. People rush by, screens in hand, their minds fixed on scrolling without consciousness. A street vendor’s bark cuts through the crowd as he shouts, “No Pea Soup For You!” to no one in particular.

He sits on a bench, phone silent, thumb hovering over a list of names that used to mean something. Across the street, two strangers share a laugh, sudden and candid. The sound startles him.

For a moment, he imagines what it might feel like to belong in their world. The thought comes and goes, small as breath, leaving only the quiet knowledge that everyone else carries a life just as unreachable as his.

I know, right? Red pandas are too adorbs for words. This wasn't a specific event to be fair. The next official ones are 10/10 & 10/22. This is just a fun thing some of us do, giving news recaps in haiku of what our general in server chatter has been about. Sharing the happy ya know? With that gif!!!

I waltz in sonder-form
daydreaming thru other lives
so completely, my voice
matches a different pitch,
my gait changes and
I doctor my coffee
differently today.
I accept their lives as
an extension of the tapestry

With that, thank you for exposing me to a wider variety of forms. I knew and played with Shakespearian sonnets, villanelle, basic couplets, and obviously hsiku before. But hadn't explored much outside of that, nor very often (excepting haiku/senryu of course cus it's me). Anyway, you're awesome 🤗

Also notorious for slant rhymes or "it rhymes but its plural/tense added". I'm glad it didn't take away from the power of it.

Still trying to fuss with turning the line "the self collapses by a factor of one" (or is it two? 🤔) into a refrain for something. Feeling rondel supreme-ish.

Reminded of all I am trying to do with "Behind the Miror," and who I am becoming today in as short as a month. Humbling.
