She/her very interested in what real journalism has to offer out here in the wild blue yonder before it dies, also interested in art, music, books, film, philosophy, and comedy as some past times. Trying to find some deep dives and decent orgs here too
Really interested in the possibility of a rent strike. I support general strike 2028, but what would happen if everyone refused to pay their rent?

I support individual Dems like Ayanna Presley for her work against Project 2025 and Musk, Sen Whitehouse for his investigations, and Rep Al Green for being willing to stand up to both Bibi and Trump to their face and calling for impeachment. We also need a new Party. Both can be true.

Pretty horrified to find out about HR722, which would be a national ban on abortion. It was introduced 1/24/25 and just needs to be passed by Congress.

Happy to know Trump didn't immediately throw away the Civil Rights Act on MLK Day or especially as his 1st executive order, but horrified that he's definitely gunning for it and already passed orders to remove employment protections, birthright citizenship, "gender ideology", among too many others.

Been feeling like the Democratic Party has been bought out by the GOP with the decisions they're making. Like choosing Jerry Conolly, "a young 74, cancer notwithstanding" over AOC, or keeping Biden on the ticket. This strategy works suspiciously well for the GOP, so it's hard not to ask yourself.

Saw "Dawn's Early Light" by Kevin Roberts and J.D Vance at Barnes and Noble yesterday. Does anyone else get the urge to take a lighter to them and light these books on fire? 🔥 I would never, but I can't believe that book is commercially sold across the country.

The only thing I want for Christmas is for Gaetz report to come out. Please Lord Jesus, Lord Krampus, Satan, St Nick, please give me that Gaetz report. Then he will expose all members of Congress. That's all I want. Plus I'd really like to not be evicted in by my landlord's pricegouging. With Love

We really need to challenge the right's idea that Daniel Penny is a hero. He is not. All he is is a sociopathic killer and a symbol of violent racism and hatred for those living on the streets. I've heard many stories of people killing homeless people and having no consequences. This has to stop.

Went to Planned Parenthood yesterday to get my IUD replaced, come to find out they have stockpiles of mifepristone ready if the new admin tries to enact Comstock Act and are otherwise preparing. If you're someone living in a red state who can get pregnant, please get over here so you can be safe

In my mind, it seems as though we can make some logical predictions about what SCOTUS will do because they are showing all their cards. If we can, we need judges in other circuits to protect us from discrimination and potentially the confirmed elimination of separation between church and state.

In Skrmetti, I feel like SCOTUS is showing some obvious patterns. Amy Coney Barrett said trans discrimination doesn't exist, echoing John Roberts on race in Shelby County v Holder, gutting the Voting Rights Act. In this case, he also said trans healthcare is a states issue as he said in Dobbs.

Here is my write up in @thenation.com about yesterday’s awful anti-trans hearing at SCOTUS.

If I made the arguments Alito and Barrett made when I was in law school, I would have gotten an F. Unless my professors were bigots like them.
The Supreme Court’s Hearing on Trans Rights Was Bigotry Masquerading as Law
The conservative majority spent much of the oral arguments for US v. Skrmetti trying to erase the trans community.

My opinion right now is we need to push investigative journalism into overdrive for the next 2 months and prop up today's Bob Woodwards and Karl Bernsteins as much as humanly possible. Follow the money, make insightful analysis and connections, use critical thinking skills, and question authority
