Feel like group A gets a lot of coverage, but B is equally negative in some ways 😐

IMO voters tend to fit into either of the following:
A. only consider the personal implications of policies mooted (‘good for me, have my vote’)
B. only consider the ideological fit of the policies without tracing through personal implications (then ‘oh shit’ when they are affected negatively)

Nah, you can’t get a mortgage for ornaments, and you don’t get the tax breaks for selling your primary residence if you’re selling ornaments

I’ve been toying with plastic as an analogy - general purpose, hugely useful in certain contexts, but can fit in everywhere and is cheaper than alternatives so gets over implemented… and over time we discover all the negative direct and indirect externalities as a result

Wild. I learnt to drive in the last 10 years, and driving feels like the closest I'll get to stepping out of the door with a (legal) firearm. You just know you are immediately under the watchful eye of GPS tracking, dashcams, traffic & ANPR cams, Police (overt and covert)...
