On Twitter, I was always more of a lurker. Here, I plan to be more vocal discussing whatever topic is on my mind at the moment, but I’ll generally be talking about public policy, with unusual takes likely.

May also discuss video games, literature, travel, and anything else that comes to mind.
I feel this.

Decided I needed to read some of the mass of books I’ve bought in my anxiety induced shopping spree over the last month, and I managed to finish this book within a time span of 13 hours. I highly recommend this book. #BookSky

As governor of Illinois, I’ve made it my mission to make our state the best to call home including for our LGBTQ+ community.

No matter who you are or who you love, everyone deserves dignity and equality.

Hate has no home here.

Is anyone out there archiving BLS data right now? Because we probably need to be doing that, given all this…

Watching all of Perfect Strangers as a prelude to watching Family Matters, and the way Larry acts in this show explains so much of white male behavior for me.

Been feeling quite anxious and we’re only 2 weeks in. Not sure where things are going to go from here, but I think the only way to tamp down anxiety is to write down the things I am concerned about and what concrete actions I can take, then act.

I don’t think I’m cut out for earthquake country. Been feeling phantom movements since I came home from Christmas in Utah, and it’s making me super paranoid about the probability of a large earthquake in the Bay Area.

Lately I’ve been thinking about how to rework my personal motivation system and get myself to start working towards personal goals, specifically around health and personal finance goals. What motivation methods have worked best for everyone else?

The funniest part of my parent’s visit for Thanksgiving yesterday, was when my mom whipped out nail polish and put a coat on her nails right when the turkey finished. That’s all I could smell until we sat down to eat, but the meal turned out well.

One of the hardest things about working in government as a bureaucrat is the expectation that we keep our political beliefs quiet, so as to be able to serve all people, regardless of ideology, in a community. I feel like this misses the point a little bit.

One of the key things I’ll be trying to focus on is how to take my anxiety and fuel my inner curiosity with it. Focus on the books I want to read, languages I want to learn, and communities I want to build in the coming years.

Unleash the joy you wish to see in the world.

Makes me wonder if Musk ends up making himself a target of the next administration somehow. Plenty of fodder for them to go after.
If we are already getting anonymous "holy shit this guy is annoying" stories I'm not sure Elon Musk makes it to Inauguration Day in Trump's inner circle. He might be on a 2016 Transition Chair Chris Christie arc www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcn...

Been thinking a lot the last few days about trade-offs. Happens in our own lives, but also happens in governance. Life requires decision making, which means that I can’t have the abs I want if I continue to consume the diet that I do. 1/x
