President of the Long Island Rail Road in 1876 (the glory year). Founder of College Point and the first free kindergarten in the United States. Would have loved Janelle Monáe.
Prominent libertarian pundit actually not very smart, more at 11

Of course the obvious solution here is that the Montréal Métro should be converted in place to steel-wheeled LIM technology.

Reduced rail wear, reduced maintenance, stellar performance, simple components, minimal inclement weather traction vulnerability, accelerating up a 6% grade

the friend has clarified that it's supposed to be "mean transit nerd boys" but that wouldn't have fit into the 300 characters anyway

I'm excited for the scholarly books on Eric Adams in a couple decades. The guy who hated rats, loved corruption, was great on housing and trash storage, and loved Istanbul more than life. What a character, what a legacy. I'll almost miss him.

I understand fears about job security, but TWU is a powerful union, and would almost certainly secure zero layoffs for their members. Even if NYCT wanted to fully rid itself of 2PTO, it could be done through attrition and reassignment with zero layoffs.

Being an asshole doesn't make people want to agree with you, even if you're right.

This represents a fundamental misunderstanding of the way the Subway is operated and what happens whether this legislation passes or fails. There is no proposal to switch to OPTO or ZPTO. If the bill is vetoed tomorrow, nothing would change until at least May 2026, when the TWU contract expires.

Those humans can work in one of the many other jobs on the railroad. Running trains takes more than conductors!
