Good luck both. Having had the gallstones experience in the past - different but also uncomfortable and requiring urgent treatment - you have my sympathy. Fingers crossed for you.

I've DM'd you my email address, Charlie

Did you get any other takers, Charlie? Not sure I could do two (as they are yours, not sure if I'll even be able to do one!!!) but happy to help out if still needed.

Yep. I bought it a year or so ago. Combined Dictionary and Thesaurus. Constantly in use. I'm very happy with it. (Though not all editors swear by it. Collins seems the preferred option)

Two setters in water — this keeps us dry (9)

and Paul, himself, had

Setter at sea, perhaps, wearing something waterproof (9)

Ha! But I see that a late commenter on Nimrod has ensured the comment is kept on life support ...

I didn't manage to avoid the crosswords but I did manage to avoid using the phrase 'above my pay grade' in any of my posts ...

Ah. Given past performance, I naturally assumed you had injured yourself in some unlikely manner. Best wishes to your loved one and good luck with the Apex!

Sorry to hear that, Matt. Hope you are home safe and that you enjoy today. If convalescence is required, I hope you can think of a way to utilise the time you have to spend with your feet up!

Happy Christmas to all of you.
